Proposed Sta Work:

  • Seabird CTD with 12-2.5L bottle rosette to 500m, depth-permitting
    • CTD Sensors include:
      • Dual SBE3 fast response Temperature sensors
      • Dual SBE4 Conductivity sensors
      • SBE43 Oxygen sensor
      • Fluorometer
      • Wetlabs 25cm, 660nm Transmissometer
  • Water Sample Analyses include:
    • Salinities, Guildline Portasal
    • Oxygens, SIO-ODF Auto-titrator
    • Chlorophyll-a + phaeopigments, 24hr cold acetone extractions, Turner Design Fluorometer
    • Nutrients: NO3, NO2, PO4, Sil, NH3; frozen for later analysis
  • Net Tows:
    • 100m Pairovet vertical net tow (coastal stations only - out to sta 70)
    • 210m Bongo net  tow - all stations
    • MANTA neuston net tow - all stations
    • Mid-water Trawls with new marine mammal screening
  • Continuously collected data:
    • Acoustics - Shipboard EK-60 acoustics system 
  • Visual and acoustic observations
    • Avifauna (bird) census
