The 2006 CalCOFI Conference will be held at the Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove, California, December 4-6.
The symposium of the conference is entitled "Ecological Interactions Useful for Marine Ecosystem Based Management: The Roles of Positive Species Interactions, Ecosystem Engineers and Species Diversity". In this symposium, we will examine what lessons have been learned from marine ecology and apply these to marine ecosystem based management. We will explore the potential consequences of fishing for positive species interactions, reductions in species that serve as ecosystem engineers and reductions in species diversity. Registrations and abstracts are currently being accepted.
